Mission, Vision & Values

The principles that guide every decision we make.

Enterprise in God's Name

To generate sustainable income for the Church of Uganda by professionally managing commercial enterprises, developing Church-owned properties, and providing advisory services to dioceses — all while upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and Christian stewardship.

CCHCL exists at the intersection of faith and commerce. We believe that the Church's spiritual mission is best served when supported by a strong, self-sustaining economic foundation — one that doesn't depend on foreign aid but on the disciplined stewardship of God-given resources.

Our Vision

"To be an economically self-sustaining Church of Uganda through the professional management of its investment portfolio — a model for faith-based enterprise across Africa."

Our Core Values

Seven principles that define how we operate, invest, and serve.

Integrity

We conduct all business with honesty, transparency, and ethical standards befitting a Church institution. Every transaction, every contract, every decision reflects our commitment to doing right.

Accountability

As stewards of Church resources, we are accountable to our 33 Bishop shareholders, our dioceses, and ultimately to God. Regular audits, transparent reporting, and open governance are non-negotiable.

Stewardship

We manage what has been entrusted to us — land, buildings, enterprises — with the care and diligence of those who know they hold it in trust for future generations of the Church.

Service

Everything we do serves the Church of Uganda's mission. From publishing prayer books in 30+ languages to providing hospitality on Namirembe Hill — our enterprises serve communities first.

Innovation

We embrace digital transformation — from the LIMS land management system to modern business practices — while honoring our heritage. Innovation and tradition are not opposites.

Excellence

Whether it's the quality of books in our Bookshop, the comfort of rooms at our Guest House, or the professionalism of our management — we pursue excellence in all things.

Sustainability

Our eco-tourism venture at Nabugabo demonstrates our commitment: economic returns must be balanced with environmental stewardship and long-term viability for communities and ecosystems.

Our Strategic Objectives

Optimize operations across all five subsidiaries to increase profitability and efficiency. This includes modernizing Uganda Bookshop's e-commerce capabilities, expanding Namirembe Guest House's conference business, and increasing occupancy at Nabugabo Holiday Centre during off-peak seasons.

Through the LIMS digital system, secure all Church of Uganda land titles across 39 dioceses. Identify underutilized properties for development, prevent encroachment and fraud, and ensure all land is properly registered under the Registered Trustees of the Church of Uganda.

Develop the CCHCL Industrial Hub and explore other investment opportunities that align with the Church's mission. Diversify the revenue portfolio beyond the current five subsidiaries to build resilience against market fluctuations.

Train diocesan secretaries and estates officers in property management, financial literacy, and digital tools. Promote Church credit and savings societies that empower local Church communities to generate their own income.

Maintain the highest standards of corporate governance, regular auditing, and transparent reporting to all stakeholders. Ensure that CCHCL serves as a model for faith-based organizations managing commercial enterprises across Africa.
